After an 11 hour flight Malcolm, Deb, our 15 excited students and I touched down at Kansai International Airport in Osaka:-) It was a smooth flight all the way with next to no turbulence. After we made it safely and smoothly through customs we were met by a friendly face waving a "Balmoral School" sign. From there Deb and I exchanged documentation for our Rail Passes and then we were on the train, luggage and all.... and our bright pink hats, to Shin Osaka Youth Hostel!
The noticeable heat difference was instant. The students were quick to experience the efficient operation of Japanese Train Stations. Smooth:-)
Once we had checked in the students got to experience the Japanese communal style of bathing. Although the girls were a little shy at first, the boys "manned up" and were all in together which was awesome:-) Then it was engines off, lights off for their first night in a Japanese style room.
Today's plan is breakfast near the station, where the students can choose their own meal, followed by a trip to the magnificent Osaka Castle and the Osaka Aquarium in the afternoon. Tonight I will put some photos up or you to enjoy. Post some comments if you like as we would love to read them. Over and out,
Matt
